Letters to John #5

John,

Well, now that I'm completely blocked on my street and unable to leave because a Tractor-trailer is blocking the road and stuck in one ditch while another car is stuck in the other ditch. I thought it would be a great time to start this tell of adventure of the past week.

Let's start with mom asking me to take her to the doctor last Tuesday. Because her three-day a week aid was off on Tuesday. The appointment was supposed to be at 2pm. I arrived at Mom's around 1:15pm to find that mom had already put her scooter on the back of her car. Well, fuck! That ment I had to drive her car. After she shuffled through the house and slowly went down the steps, then shuffled to the car. We were off to the doctor. We get checked in, go have a seat and wait. Sometime after 2 closer to 2:30 the nurse calls her back. Of course I go back with her. Mom goes to the bathroom, so I take this opportunity to ask questions and make statements. I look at the nurse and say “I'm told that the doctor gave my mom the green light on moving into an apartment. She signed a form of some kind.”

The nurse pulls up Mom's chart. And there it is, the form. This form is a legal document that a doctor has to sign to put someone into a nursing home or Assisted living facility. The nurse said “oh what Facility did she get into?” I said no she used it to get an apartment. That is when mom comes out of the bathroom. It takes almost another 45mins for the doctor to come in.

Mom is actually there for a follow-up. Mom fell on the floor on the thirteenth, then after falling she laid on the floor till she could move. Then she went to get her phone out of the bathroom, called me to tell me that she fell on the floor and hurt herself.  But didn't call the ambulance, she was going to have someone take her to the ER the next day. This was the follow-up to that fall.

Mom knew she was there for a fall but she thought it was for the fall she had last month. I had to explain to mom and the doctor about the fall. Mom said she hadn't fallen in a long time. She argued so much that the doctor had to get on the computer and look it up. After that argument she asked mom about moving. Mom tried to be as vague as possible.

Then I let the cat out of the bag and told the doctor that she had used the form that the doctor signed off on to get an apartment. This is when the doctor lost her shit. The Doctor begins telling her that she had already told her that mom could not live in an apartment by herself. And how was she gonna get taken care of?

Mom tells her that she plans on getting a full-time Nurse. The doctor looked at her square in the face and asked “How are you gonna do that?” Mom Has been trying to convince Shecca and I that the doctor is getting her a full-time nurse and that her insurance will be paying for it. That's not going to happen. So Shecca is stuck living with mom till she goes into a home or dies.

So, mom finally got the go ahead from the apartment complex to move to her new place on December the 23rd. That being said, we had a few men from Mom's church come and help. There was a lot of confusion about getting the U-hal truck that she ordered. To be honest if it wasn't for Mr. Blinky this whole situation would be completely fucked. It was a complete shit show and Mr. Blinky ended up spending a lot of money on mom. He has a sign that is in my living room that says “Welcome to the shit show. I hope you brought alcohol.” It fits this Entire week. So far Shecca and I have gone to the house to clean. I have done all this with a pulled Muscle in my back. So has Shecca.

Mom's apartment is on the ground floor. The problem is that there are 5 steps from the sidewalk to the apartment. If you go around to the back of the building there are only 2. But if mom gets on her scooter and drives it up a small hill she won't make it. Shecca has a great video of Mr. Blinky testing it out while yelling “this isn't going to work!” I run up behind him and push him up the hill. Yes, still with a pulled muscle.

Christmas went well. LAMM got a new bike. She didn't seem to be happy about it because she doesn't know how to ride a bike. That's going to change. Brosswell got an External hard drive. They both got lots more, but that was the highlight. We got Bone Head, a new fishing rod and gear. He was really happy about that. I got books, a candle, and a new office that may be turned into a bedroom for a 7 year old. I believe I told you about that some time ago. Well, Mr. Blinky’s Aunt Sparkle Bomb called on Christmas day to inform us that she still had The Nugget, the 7 year old, and his Uncle Sparkle Bomb would call him later about that. “Oh and by the way Merry Christmas.” she told Mr. Blinky. There's so much more to all that. I'll tell you later.

Kinetic, LAMM and I Celebrated Yule (Jul) together. Kinetic is so supportive of my witchy-pagan Interest. Sadly she's a better pagan than me and she's not even pagan.🤣

Now that I got the family highlights, on to a new subject. A few weeks before Christmas Mr. Blinky and I went to the Barnes & Nobel. He was looking for gifts for his Christmas party that Eventually went wrong. Anyways, I went looking for a book on my need-to-get list. The book was the Nag Hammadi scriptures. It's Essentially a Bible. It has what they call the lost books of the Bible. This isn't your King James Bible. It has a book on the origins of the world. This isn't the Adam and Eve story you heard in Sunday school. Or God created the heavens and the earth in six days and rested on the seventh-day story.

Well, I think I will leave you to ponder on this for a bit. I will start a new letter soon. Till next time
